About us
Wildlife and Wellbeing was set up as a Community Interest Company in 2024 in response to the growing climate, biodiversity and human mental health crises. Our aim is to connect people with their local wildlife, for the benefit of their health and wellbeing. Environmental health and wellbeing also benefits from more humans being connected to nature and understanding the impact they as individuals have – both negative and positive – on the natural world.
What we do We run nature connection events in and around Salisbury where people learn about their local wildlife and practice mindfulness techniques. We help people with a common interest to connect, particularly those living with or at risk of loneliness and social isolation. We help people develop or strengthen their relationship with nature and the natural environment where they live.
Who is WaW for? WaW is for anyone who might benefit from being more connected to nature and gaining more control of their health and wellbeing. Which is probably everyone! We are proud to be an inclusive organisation. We welcome all people at our events. We value diversity, and aim to create a community that reflects the breadth of people in our local society, including marginalised people. We work in locations that are accessible and encourage people to arrive by active travel and/or by public transport. We strive to be accessible to all.
Our team

Charley Miller, Founder/Director
I have been working in wildlife conservation since completing my degree in Geography in 2011. I love connecting people with their local wildlife, and people say I’m good at it! I set up Wildlife and Wellbeing to use what I’ve learnt over the years, particularly at Hazel Hill Wood (where I’ve worked since 2018), to spread the love to more people in more places. Andrew Riddington, Director
Having spent most of my working life supporting small businesses with financial and general management advice, I now give this type of support to a number of not-for-profit community endeavours. In addition, I own & manage my own small woodland, run my own newly-formed business, The Cirencester Workbench, and am an active carpenter-joiner & general woodworker.

Tanay Gandhi, Director
I am a lecturer in politics at the University of Leeds, having previously been a human rights lawyer in India. I love spending time in the wild outdoors climbing, hillwalking, and wild-camping. I am passionate about sharing what the wildlife all around us can teach us about our world and ourselves! Read more about my research work here.

Polly Whyte, Director
I have been working on projects engaging people with wildlife since 2008, marketing a variety of activities and events. I’m a website creator, Forest School Leader and I’m passionate about finding fun ways to engage people with nature to support their wellbeing. As well as being a mum of two boys, in my spare time, I’m a keen gardener and willow weaver.
